Projects Implemented in 2023
1. Empowering Mbalame Village through Community Engagement and Sustainable Infrastructure Development

In 2023, Touch of Hope undertook efforts to address the critical water access challenges faced by Mbalame Village, located under Traditional Authority Masula, 35 kilometers southwest of Lilongwe, Malawi. Home to approximately 3,000 people, Mbalame Village has long struggled with inadequate access to clean water, relying on a single borehole and other unsanitary sources, particularly during the dry season. This has led to health risks and a significant burden on the daily lives of the community, especially for women and children.
In response, TOH conducted extensive community consultations, including focus group discussions and meetings with local leaders and residents. The community has expressed a clear need for a sustainable solution to this problem. After thorough discussion and analysis, the village has identified a comprehensive water distribution system, including a new borehole, a solar-powered pump, a raised water tank, and strategically placed water access points as the best solution to address this challenge. This initiative highlighted
the need for further support from donors, partners, and the broader community to bring this vision to life and ensure Mbalame Village has access to clean, reliable water.
